Food/Drink Blogger of the Year Announcement

Firstly we would like to congratulate all the finalists for the Midlands Food Drink & Hospitality Awards 2019.

Following our announcement of this year’s shortlist it has come to light our finalists for the “Food/Drink Blogger of the Year” category contains a mixture of traditional blogs where content is written in long form and Instagram blogs where content is written as short, small posts.

We have taken the public’s feedback on board and appreciate it is difficult to judge the merits of 2 different types of blogs under one generic category.  Therefore we have decided to remove the current “Food/Drink Blogger of the Year” category from the voting process and split the current finalists into 2 separate appropriate categories based on their blog type.

In order to ensure a fair comparison we have split the current finalists between the “Food/Drink Blogger of the Year” category and the “Best Insta of the Year Category” as follows:

Food/Drink Blogger of the Year
Bite Your Brum
The Extreme Housewife

Best Insta of the Year
Birmingham Eats
Brumlicious
The Hangry Blonde

In light of these changes we feel it is only right to give everyone a fair chance to nominate their favourites for these 2 separate categories therefore we have extended the nomination period for 1 week starting from today for these 2 separate categories.

The criteria for “Food/Drink Blogger of the Year” is as follows:

  • Must be posting long form blog/review content an average of three times per month
  • Social media presence and engagement on any one of these following platforms – Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter
  • Quality of application and percentage of the public vote
  • Reputation as ambassador and advocate of the local food, drink & hospitality scene, showing respect for peers, competitors and patrons
